The word Ujima is associated with the third principle of Kwanzaa and is translated as “Collective Work and Responsibility.” The principle is about building and maintaining community together, taking shared responsibility, and solving problems collectively.
That idea became the foundation for how we approached the Ujima Film website.
One vision.
Many hands.
One shared outcome.
That is Ujima.

We translated Ujima’s philosophy into a cinematic, editorial and human-centered digital experience.
The dark visual environment creates the atmosphere of a film studio or cinema, while bold typography, cinematic imagery, fine lines and technical graphic details reference the world of filmmaking.
A restrained black, white and orange palette keeps the experience sophisticated while allowing creative work and people to take center stage.
More importantly, the homepage itself follows the philosophy of Ujima.
Visitors move from discovering the vision, to exploring the work, discovering the global community, meeting creators and understanding the roadmap.
The sections aren’t simply website components.
They represent different parts of the Ujima ecosystem—Learn, Create, Collaborate and Innovate.
Even the language of the experience reinforces this idea.
Instead of ending with a conventional “Contact Us,” the journey ends with:
Because the goal isn’t simply to get in touch.
It’s to become part of something.
